PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Gang & Violence Prevention Program

Our mission is to bring awareness to the public of the many dangerous cultures being promoted by the entertainment industry and how they are negatively impacting human behavior, along with promoting drug use and gang violence.

For example:

*Grand Theft Auto is the #1 video game in the nation. The ³Nut Case Gang² in Oakland went on a killing spree (2003-2004) after some members said they were inspired by the game.

* Music and Videos are being played on public youthful radio and television stations glorifying: drugs, gangs/mafia, robbery, violence, pimping, anarchy and even murder.

* Hyphy Movement is a growing trend in the Sacramento Area, promoted by the music industry. The culture promotes the substance abuse of: E-pills, Marijuana and Alcohol at venues called functions, where participants go into a wild and violent frenzy of dancing called ³going dumb² or ³going stupid². Reckless driving, fights, gang violence, rapes and even murders are known to be common occurrences at these events.

We address this issue with four core principals, which are: Awareness, Knowledge, Wisdom and Mission. These four principles are inserted in our program through:

* Workshops (PowerPoint)

*Book

*Weekly Podcasts

* Weekly Blogs

* Treatment Videos

* Small Groups

*Mentoring

*Employability/Vocational Training. *Students will be trained in video, podcasting, photography, journalism and web design.

* Resource Center providing and networking services in: Job training, education, housing, substance abuse, anger management and spiritual guidance.

The Benefits and goal of this program to society will be:

*Enlighten individuals of the ³big picture², so they can obtain a clearer and more informative picture of life, which will help them make better and more compassionate decisions for themselves and towards others.

*This in turn will reduce the rate of incarceration; drug use, gang membership, violence, crime and the growing high school drop out rate.
